Walking With Honor Needs Our Community
Last weekend, one of our program dogs, Rez, experienced a medical emergency that required immediate veterinary care. Out of respect for Rez and those closest to him, we aren’t going to share the details of what happened. What we can say is that it was incredibly scary, and there was never a question about what we would do next.
We are incredibly thankful to the team at Granite Veterinary Emergency, Trauma & Specialty (GraniteVETS) for being there when Rez needed them most. The compassion, care, and attention they showed him during an incredibly frightening situation meant more to us than we could ever adequately put into words.
Today, we are very happy to share that Rez is doing better. He is currently resting and recovering in a loving home environment, where he can be comfortable, surrounded by familiar faces, and given all the love and care he needs while he continues to heal.
And right now, that is exactly where we want him to be.
We created Honor's Legacy Fund specifically for moments like this—to help cover unexpected medical expenses for the dogs in our program. But we are still a new nonprofit, and Honor's Legacy Fund is still growing. Unfortunately, there simply wasn't enough in the fund to cover the unexpected cost of Rez's emergency care.
But when a dog in our care needs help, the numbers in a bank account don't get to decide whether we show up for them. So we figured it out. We made sure Rez received the care he needed because there was never another option in our minds.
Every dollar donated helps us recover from this unexpected expense and strengthens our ability to continue our mission without taking resources away from the veterans and dogs currently depending on us.
If you're able to donate, we are incredibly grateful.
If you can't donate but can share this post, we are just as grateful.
