Building Momentum

3 min read

June was one of those months where you could feel the momentum building.

The biggest milestone of the month was watching Rowan begin his new journey with Marine veteran Jason. Every placement is special but seeing another rescue dog find their purpose while helping a veteran heal is exactly why Walking With Honor exists. Moments like these remind us that every hour of training, every volunteer, every supporter, and every donation make a real difference.

As we celebrated this placement, we also began laying the groundwork for our first-ever Honor's Legacy Bash. Behind the scenes, there were countless meetings, phone calls, donation requests, sponsorship conversations, and planning sessions. It was exciting to watch our community come together to honor Honor's legacy while supporting the future of our mission.

Throughout the month, we continued to be active in our community, connecting with veterans, their families, and those who believe in what we do.

We were honored to attend The Honor Bear Project's Flags for Forgotten Heroes Suicide Awareness Flag Display Installation at Renaissance Firearms, Training & Development. Standing among the flags served as a powerful reminder of why our work matters. Every veteran lost to suicide is someone who should still be here, and it strengthened our commitment to doing everything we can to provide hope through the healing bond between veterans and rescued shelter dogs.

We also had the privilege of joining the Hidden Battles Radio Show, where we were able to share our story, talk about our mission, and raise awareness about the life-changing impact psychiatric service dogs have for veterans. Every opportunity to tell our story helps us reach the next veteran who may be searching for hope.

Another highlight was attending the Veterans Stand Down, where we connected with veterans, resource organizations, and community partners. Events like these remind us that no organization can do this work alone. It takes all of us working together to make sure veterans know the resources available to them and never feel like they have to fight their battles alone.

To wrap up the month, we participated in Mutt Strut, where we had the opportunity to demonstrate some of the incredible work our service dogs are trained to do. It was a great opportunity to educate the public about the difference between a fully trained psychiatric service dog and other types of assistance animals while showcasing the amazing abilities of our dogs.

June wasn't just about checking events off a calendar. It was about building relationships, strengthening partnerships, educating our community, and continuing to grow a mission that is changing lives one veteran and one rescue dog at a time.

As we headed into July, we could feel something special taking shape. The excitement surrounding Honor's Legacy Bash continued to grow, and we couldn't wait to bring our community together to celebrate Honor's legacy and the future of Walking With Honor.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our mission, attended an event, or simply believed in what we're building—thank you. Because of you, more veterans are finding hope, more rescue dogs are finding purpose, and more lives are being changed every single day.

We still have a long road ahead, but we're exactly where we're supposed to be. One veteran. One rescue dog. One life changed at a time.

Walking With Honor... Where Heroes Walk Together.
